September Workshop: 2014 Calendar

Another month has whizzed by!  This month we did our annual PicFolio calendar refill inserts.  Here are my quick designs for 2014... I didn't have to do much as the Peacock Power Palette (one of CM's last designer papers) was already beautifully designed.  I decided enhance each month with a simple flower theme, and I loved how all the colors came together!

Stay tuned for a version two of the 2014 calendar, as I had to use up all my papers for our workshop attendees, but I will need to make a new set for my mom's PicFolio... Looking forward to tweaking these designs!

October Workshop: Recipe Album

Bliss and I were so excited to finally put together another compilation of recipes using the Nancy O'Dell Recipe 8x8 Quick Kit.  It was a new twist on our old PicFolio favorite...

 

However, when I started to work on my sample page, I noticed I had a slight problem, as a 4x6 recipe card and a 4x6 photo would not fit on a 8x8 scrapbook page.  Hmm...

I really wanted to include pictures of my recipes to share, so I knew I had to come up with a solution.  Thankfully, I remembered that Costco does a 5x7 print of four (4) wallet print sized photos.  Perfect!  I wouldn't have to crop my photo, and Costco would do the resizing for me.

 

 

So here's my finished page... There was even enough room to add an embellishment. The pages look great in the protective sheets of the album, as it can be propped up on its own. This perfect for following the recipe as you're cooking and your hands are either full or dirty.  Can't wait to finish putting together the rest of the album and start making everyone's recipes!

We are excited to finish 2012 strong with a fun series of workshops.... For September, we'll be getting ready for the new year a little earlier, as we'll create a 2013 edition of our PicFolio Calendar tradition. Our inspiration for this calendar are the hip designs of the "Be Young" Cricut cartridge.  Hope you can join us to make a calendar for yourself or as a gift!  

 

Workshop Recap: PicFolio Calendar

Our 2012 calendar inserts were a huge hit this past Sunday!  We are thinking of making this an annual workshop.  For 2013, we'll probably create the inserts in December (then we'll get more use out of the January page!).  Using the Cricut allowed us to quickly create seasonal themes for each month... Bliss designed the odd months, and I took care of the even months.  I absolutely loved the designs she used.  The calendar grid was (of course) created in Storybook Creator.  Here is the fruit of our labor...

The background papers are from the Fabulous Power Palette.  After waiting patiently all month, my mom was so happy to finally have her calendar for 2012.  I also made a second set for a co-worker.  Gifts with a creative touch are the best! 

January Workshop: 2012 Calendar PicFolio

We'll be doing a repeat of our first workshop of 2011, as we begin a new calendar year of Sunday crafting.  The super versatile PicFolio will be used again, and for 2012,  we'll create calendar inserts using seasonal embellishments from the Cricut.  Your kit will also include a pack of basic supplies (NEW tape runner, precision point adhesive, and foam squares), which will help you complete our projects throughout the year.  Here are more details...

Recipe Album Workshop

It was a crafty Thanksgiving weekend, as I continued to put the finishing touches on more craft fair items (more details in my next post).  Just wanted to update you on the details of our next workshop...

What: Recipe Album Workshop, featuring your recipes!

When: Sunday, December 11 from 1 to 4 pm

Where: Nishida Residence in Aiea

Cost: $30 (includes 4x6 PicFolio album)

How you can participate: Email me two (2) recipes from two different categories: main dish, salad/vegetables/sides, desserts, or miscellaneous. On the day of the workshop, we'll have one of your recipes printed out for you on a pre-made digital card and the other recipe will be typed up, ready for you to decorate. There will tons of paper and tools for you to choose from to create your design. You'll duplicate your design as many times as there are participants, and then we'll swap at the end. We are hoping create a book with 24 different recipes, mixing both digital and traditional scrapbooking!

Just Desserts

Okay, time for my first crafting post!  I was feeling especially ambitious the beginning of this year... I had already completed my "Local Style" PicFolio calendar, and I wanted to do another themed calendar.  This was for my mom, as I had not updated her calendar in two years!  I was inspired to do a desserts theme because she loves late night snacking.  I searched around for some ideas.  My goal was to create all the desserts from Creative Memories papers and punches.  Here's what I came up with...
